Melissa Sweet Named Design Director for Priscilla of Boston

DALLAS, Apr 28, 2006/ FW/ --- It’s a marriage made in heaven. Melissa Sweet, known for her whimsical wedding gowns under her eponymous label is the new Design Director for Priscilla of Boston, a multi-branded bridal company with a focus on major premium global brands.

In her new role, Sweet will oversee the design direction for the prestigious Priscilla of Boston Collection and will continue to design her own Melissa Sweet Bridal Collection.

Melissa Sweet launched her company in 1996, selling to Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and other specialty stores across the country. It became part of Priscilla of Boston in 2005.

Known for her vintage glamour and modern design, Melissa Sweet’s flattering silhouettes, as well as her use of scale, proportion and balance have made her a favorite among brides.

As designer of both Priscilla of Boston and her namesake line, Melissa Sweet will offer the perfect gown to all types of brides in Atlanta.

Founded in 1945 by Priscilla Kidder, Priscilla of Boston started as ‘The Bride Shop’ in Newbury Street in Boston offering custom-made wedding dresses. She became a household name in 1971 when she designed Tricia Nixon’s wedding gown who married Eddie Cox, the ceremony held in the White House.

Kidder, who passed away in 2003, continues her legacy in Priscilla of Boston. Currently owned by The Federated Department Store Company, Priscilla of Boston continues to offer luxury collections, combining quality craftsmanship and flattering silhouettes.
