What is the Apostille document?
The Apostille document is a special certification document that is accepted to countries that are a party to the rules of the 1961 Hague Convention. This Apostille document enables you to bypass further certification from the US Department of State and immediately send or take your documents to the country of intended use. Please contact your Secretary of State office for information on how to obtain the Apostille Document or log on to www.state.gov/www/authenticate
How many days do I need to be at the resort before we can get married?
You must be in Mexico for at least 3 working days before the wedding. Saturdays, Sundays and Mexican holidays are not considered working days. Please ask your wedding coordinator for details.
Is the ceremony performed in English or Spanish?
Legal (Civil) ceremonies performed by a judge are conducted in Spanish and translated to English by our onsite wedding coordinator. Symbolic ceremonies performed by a minister are conducted in English.
Are the weddings performed in Mexico legal in the United States?
Yes, civil weddings performed by a judge in Mexico are legal in North America. Please check with your local courthouse on how to register your marriage certificate.
What happens if I do not have a witness for the ceremony?
When getting legally married in Mexico, it is necessary to have four (4) witnesses in total; two for the bride and two for the groom. If you do not have your own witnesses the resort can provide them to you. A nominal fee of approximately $20 USD per witness will apply.
On what days and at what time of day can I get married?
Weddings are performed 7 days a week except on Mexican holidays. Ceremony times can be requested 24 hours a day but the most popular times are from 11am to 6pm April to September and 11am to 4pm October to March.
Can I use my own photographer?
Outside vendors are not allowed on property unless pre-approved by the hotel. The hotels reserve the right to deny access to the property to any unauthorized photographer or videographer. Please contact your wedding coordinator for more information on approved photographers. Outside photographers approved by the hotel will incur a $500 photo fee per day. El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels and Azul Hotels, by Karisma abide by all Mexican governing laws which require foreign workers to obtain proper licensing and work certificates while in Mexico doing work for themselves or on behalf of others. We reserve the right to request proof of such license and/or work certificate.
What ceremony locations are available?
There are a variety of ceremony locations at each resort including directly on the beach, in romantic gazebos either on the beach or off the beach and in the wedding chapel located at the El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Maroma. Please check with your wedding coordinator for available locations at your specific hotel.
